What Do Our Ingredients Actually Do For Skin?

It’s not the done thing in Britain to brag, so let’s pretend we’re French for a minute.

If your skin was likened to an expectant child on Christmas morning, and all the presents around the tree were akin to ingredients layered within our formula – it would be standing room only, even for Grandma.

Just mentioning the word ‘anti-oxidant’ is enough for most people’s eyes to glaze over. And ‘free radicals’ – wasn’t that one of the political parties on the electoral ballot card?

We could just say there’s a lot of good stuff for your skin in what we sell, but as our boss put so much effort into sourcing the best ingredients, here is a quick run through to do them justice (and keep her sweet).

All our body and hand lotions contain Shea and Cocoa butter. Shea butter is a superfood for the skin that gives it a gorgeous radiance. Melting on contact, it is readily absorbed into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. It can reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars and stretch marks, and has been known to ease a variety of common skin irritations, such as psoriasis, eczema and sunburn.

Packed with anti-oxidant rich Vitamin E, Cocoa butter is king when it comes to tackling the, wait for it - free radicals - formed by exposure to everyday pollutants that attack your skin and lead to premature ageing. Free radicals pinch electrons from healthy cells (ruddy uncivil of them), so anti-oxidants not only reduce this process but also stimulate healthy cell production.

Almond oil works in harmony with the skin and hair because it is packed with vitamins E, A and D that nourish the skin. Its moisture trapping qualities make it ideal for keeping your skin feeling soft and well hydrated.

Winter in Venice has won many awards for its natural formula enriched with mango butter, almond oil, plant and fruit extracts laced with Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Pro Vitamin B5 and Evening Primrose Oil.

Natural extracts you'll find in our sets range from fruits such as grapefruit, plum and pomegranate to herbs and flowers including milk thistle, gardenia, rose, lavender and lily.

We are against animal testing and we were one of the first brands in the UK to remove all Parabens from our products, which are also SLS free.
